Care Portal launches on Mississippi Gulf Coast
LONG BEACH, Miss. (WXXV)- CarePortal celebrated its expansion to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, connecting child welfare case workers with churches and community partners to help families in need.
The platform allows case workers to request essential items like beds, cribs, car seats, clothing, and other household necessities.
Local churches and community partners can then provide those resources directly to biological, kinship, and foster families.
CarePortal has already served more than 655 children in Central Mississippi, with over $631,000 in community-funded assistance provided at no cost to state tax payers. Jen Dexter-Edsall with Beauty with Heart Foundation said, “For me personally it means a lot, because I grew up in the foster care system. So being able to do a full circle turn around, come back, and be a part of a foundation that helps the foster and underserved youth means more to me than you could possibly ever imagine.”
Organizers say the goal is to help families overcome everyday challenges, strengthen support systems, and prevent needs from escalating into a crisis.
