Highway travel on Thanksgiving

Expect congested roadways today as millions of Americans travel home for Thanksgiving.

More than 48 million people will be driving to holiday destinations this year, according to AAA.  This is the highest travel volume in more than a dozen years.

Travel is expected to peak on roadways after 3 p.m. today. AAA expects to answer roadside assistance calls for more than 300,000 motorists this Thanksgiving.

Dead batteries, lockouts, and flat tires will be the leading reasons for the calls.
