A Golden Basket Thanksgiving

USM Gulf Park campus is getting ready for Thanksgiving Day as well with their annual Golden Basket Thanksgiving Drive.
Students in the Bachelors of Social Work Club are presenting Thanksgiving Golden Baskets to 25 needy families across the Gulf Coast. Golden Basket recipients are believed to be the least food secure by social workers at head start agencies.
Teams provide all of the items for Thanksgiving dinner as well as holiday presents and other items for the family. BSW School of Social Work President Sydney Smith said, “It’s not just, you know, helping someone else, but it helps us, it shapes us, it gives us an identity of what’s going on with our community and our families in our community, some of the needs that they have and it just falls right in line with the academics USM are preparing us to go out into the world and make a change.”
This is the sixth year the Gulf Park campus has put together the Golden Basket Drive and this year they were able to provide a family in need with a 2004 Infinity X-35.
