Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational splits three ways, LSU’s Dan Hayes wins individual title
SAUCIER, Miss. — The fourth annual Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational wrapped up Tuesday with a three-way tie for the team championship at one of Mississippi’s premier golf courses.
Arkansas, Illinois and South Carolina each finished at four-over par to share the team title at the three-day, 54-hole tournament, which featured 14 collegiate golf programs from across the country.
The tournament used a five-player format, with each team’s four lowest scores counting toward its daily total.
While the team championship ended in a tie, the individual title had a clear winner. LSU sophomore Daniel Hayes claimed medalist honors with a five-under-par finish.
Hayes’ victory marks the second consecutive year an LSU golfer has won the individual championship at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational.
The annual event brings top collegiate golf programs to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, showcasing the competition at Fallen Oak Golf Club in Saucier.
Congratulations to Hayes and the Arkansas, Illinois and South Carolina teams on their championship performances.
