5/23 – Payton’s Wednesday Night Forecast

Showers and thunderstorms again this afternoon, and that will continue into Friday with temperatures in the upper 80s. Our attention then turns to the weekend where we could be dealing with very heavy rainfall associated with a tropical system currently in the Caribbean. The system has a high chance of development as it moves into the Central Gulf of Mexico over the next five days, but regardless of development it will produce very heavy rain from Florida to the Central Gulf Coast. This means portions of South Mississippi could see flooding this weekend. There are still a lot of uncertainties with the forecast as the tropical system hasn’t developed yet. Continue to monitor the forecast closely as we head into the Memorial Day weekend.
