02/24 Ryan’s “Mardi Gras Weekend” Friday Night Forecast

Mardi Gras weekend is here and that means parades, beads, and plenty of good times. This year though, it also means good weather…at first. Tonight’s clear skies will give way to increasing clouds as a weak, fast-moving cold front moves through the area overnight. This front will usher in high pressure, clear skies, and cooler temperatures for the Saturday/Sunday parades, but next week is a different story. By late Sunday, we’ll begin seeing cloud cover associated with a Gulf warm front moving North into South MS. This will bring showers and thunderstorms into the area for Monday, but it looks like Tuesday won’t be quite as bad, so the Mardi Gras festivities will continue…just bring an umbrella. Showers and thunderstorms return Wednesday as the rest of the frontal system finally moves through the area, which will take us into next weekend with clearing skies and cooler temperatures.
