Inaugural Honey Festival at Centennial Plaza in Gulfport

What a ‘bee-utiful day’ it was Sunday as the first ever Honey Festival took place at Centennial Plaza in Gulfport.

The festival featured a diverse group of vendors, honey, and honey products, artists, and more.

Guests were encouraged to attend and learn about beekeeping as Coastal beekeepers were at the festival to share everything there is to know about bees. Co-Founder and President of South MS Farmers Market Association Diane Claughton said, “This is our first annual Honey Festival, I understand that you’re not supposed to say first annual but according to a professor at Washington State University, you can because it’s aspirational. We are aspired to have an annual honey festival every year. It’s about honey and bees are one of the basic building blocks of our society that people really don’t know about, and we have the Mississippi Gulf Coast Honey Society here today to answer any questions, and sell honey too.”

The festival incorporates vendors from the Beach Boulevard Market which takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Centennial Plaza.
