Gulfport man charged in June 17 shooting incident
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — A Gulfport man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left two other people injured earlier this month.
According to the Gulfport Police Department, 43-year-old Dawonne Jones was arrested on June 24 and charged with aggravated assault and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
The charges stem from a shooting reported around 3:30 p.m. on June 17 in the 4500 block of Engram Drive.
Police say Jones and two other people had already been taken to a local hospital by the time officers arrived. All three suffered gunshot wounds, but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators determined the shooting began after a physical fight escalated into gunfire. During the investigation, authorities also searched multiple locations and recovered marijuana.
Jones is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center on a $600,000 bond.
