9/17 – Payton’s Monday Afternoon Forecast

Fall starts Saturday, but no signs of it here on the coast. Temperatures will once again climb into the mid 90s with heat index values over 100. A few thunderstorms are possible today, but not likely. Going through the rest of the week the forecast will be similar with temperatures falling a few degrees into the lower 90s and upper 80s. Rain chances will remain low, but a few thunderstorms are possible each afternoon.

TROPICS: The remnants of Isaac continue to be unorganized in the Caribbean. At this time the National Hurricane Center gives the tropical wave a very low chance of development. Models show the system remaining unorganized and drifting into Mexico, so the chance this becomes something is very very low. Tropical Depression Florence will finally start to move out of the Carolinas, and Joyce will continue to meander in the Atlantic. No other tropical development is expected in the near future.
