8/7 – Payton’s Monday Afternoon Forecast

Isolated showers were across Pearl River county this afternoon, while most of South Mississippi was dry. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon. The tropical air mass will continue to dominate the Mississippi Gulf Coast through the workweek with rain potential to be at least 50% each day into the weekend. The HEAVIER ACTIVITY will stay to the n/NE as drier air in the mid-levels of the atmosphere moves into the area from the SW. Temperatures will be around normal in the lower 90s with lows in the mid to upper 70s.
Tropical Storm Franklin continues to move to the West away from South Mississippi. Another area is being monitored in the Atlantic, but has a low chance of developing into a tropical system.
