8/7 – Payton’s Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

The typical summertime pattern continues today with temperatures climbing into the lower 90s this afternoon and a few thunderstorms possible.Most of the activity will be off to the West where an upper level low is moving over the northern Gulf of Mexico. Going into tomorrow and the rest of the workweek, conditions will become more favorable for showers and thunderstorms to develop. A trough over the eastern United States and a ridge over the western United States will transition South Mississippi into a somewhat wetter pattern. Temperatures will still be running right around normal though in the lower 90s.

TROPICS: Subtropical Storm Debby has formed in the North Central Atlantic, but will not impact land. It will dissipate over the next few days as it moves toward the north.
