7/9 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast

Showers and thunderstorms across the area this afternoon dumped heavy rain across portions of the area, but many did stay dry. This trend will continue this week as a tropical airmass stays in place. Temperatures will dictate when showers and thunderstorms develop. The best chances for rain will be late morning into the afternoon hours. Slight rain chances could last into the night, but most will remain dry after the sun sets. The temperatures will continue to be around normal in the lower 90s. High pressure builds closer into the area toward Friday, which means more stable air over the area, so there is lower chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday. Rain chances look to go back up into the weekend.

The tropics continue to be quiet in our area, but the remnants of tropical depression 4 continue to sit in the Atlantic, but are not expected to develop into anything. A new area of showers and thunderstorms off the the coast of Africa are being watched for development. These have a 20% chance of forming into a tropical system within the next five days.
