7/9 – Payton’s Monday Morning Forecast
Starting this morning dry, but as we head into the afternoon and evening isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible.
It will also be hot and humid with temperatures feeling like the lower 100s.
This continues through the remainder of the week with more showers & thunderstorms starting Wednesday.
TROPICS: Tropical Storm Chris off the East Coast is expected to become the second hurricane of the season this afternoon or evening. It will cause rough seas off the East coast, but the strongest winds will stay over the open water. The remnants of Beryl continue to move toward Puerto Rico, but as the tropical wave moves toward the Bahamas it will have to be monitored for redevelopment. There is not tropical threat to South Mississippi at the moment.
