7/8 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast
After a fairly active weekend, rain chances will go down to start the workweek as high pressure and upper level ridging builds in. There will still be a few showers and t-storms during the afternoon and evening, but less than this weekend. Rain chances pick back up on Wednesday and that continues into the weekend.
TROPICS: The tropics continue to heat up. Tropical Storm Chris off the East Coast is expected to become the first hurricane of the season. It will cause rough seas off the east coast, but the strongest winds will stay over the open water. The remnants of Beryl continue to move toward Puerto Rico, but as the tropical wave moves toward the Bahamas it will have to be monitored for redevelopment. There is not tropical threat to South Mississippi at the moment.
