6/27 – Rob Knight’s Mid-Week “HOT” Forecast

Summertime conditions continue across the forecast area. In the upper portions of the atmosphere, a strong ridge of high-pressure is currently centered around the 4 Corners region while a trough is racing east across the Ohio River Valley.

Expect scattered showers/t-storms daily through the weekend with coverage near 30 to 50% along south Mississippi.

The resultant heat indices should mainly be in the 100 to 105 range. This falls below heat advisory criteria of 108+, so will no be issuing one for today. The remainder of this week will basically be the same each day with highs in the lower 90s, heat indices right at to just below heat advisory criteria, and scattered afternoon t-storms. It will be a day to day decision on the need for an advisory.
