4/17 – Jeff Vorick’s “Chilly” Monday Night Forecast
It’s cool, but pleasant this evening. Clear skies and calm-to-light winds will allow for efficient radiative cooling overnight. Temperatures around daybreak will be in the upper-40s to low-50s across South Mississippi. Other than a few clouds in the afternoon, tomorrow will be much like today with plentiful sunshine and warmer temperatures.
A disturbance in the mid-levels of the atmosphere will move through our area during the middle of the week. It will lose steam as it approaches our area. That combined with a lack of moisture in our region will only provide for an increase in cloud coverage. Cloud coverage will peak at partly cloudy skies overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
As high pressure currently over our area moves east, return flow will set up off of the Gulf of Mexico. Moisture will recover in time ahead of a cold front that will make its way towards our area by this weekend. The front and energy along the Gulf Coast will provide for an increase in rain chances Friday and Saturday.
