4/12 – Payton’s Thursday Morning Forecast

One final day of nice weather and sunny skies. Clouds begin to return for Friday, but most of the showers and thunderstorms will remain off to the west. Saturday is the day we are watching for heavy showers and thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has all of South Mississippi under an ENHANCED RISK (Level 3 of 5) for severe weather. This means you want to monitor the weather very closely on Saturday as a line of thunderstorms is expected to move through the area sometime that afternoon into the evening. The main threat will be high winds and flash flooding, but isolated tornadoes look possible as the storms move through. By Sunday things begin to clear and cool down. Next week looks to start quiet and temperatures in the 70s.
