3/6 – Rob Knight’s “Sunny & Breezy” Friday Morning Forecast

Clear skies and breezy northerly winds are expected today as a reinforcing cold front tracks from north to south across the region early this morning. No rain with this boundary but dew-points will fall some and below normal temps will continue. Expect similar to slightly cooler highs to yesterday, maxing out generally in the mid-60s. Temps tonight should fall pretty hard as clear skies and light winds will lead to strong radiational cooling. Thinking is that areas north of the interstate will drop into the upper 30s with coastal areas in the low 40s.

An upper level high-pressure will quickly pass over the Gulf Coast Saturday into Sunday. Temperatures will respond Sunday and Monday, moderating back into the 70s. A disturbance following on the heels of the ridge will bring the return of rain chances Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. The bulk of instability and shear will remain north of the area. I’m expecting mostly showers with decreasing coverage from north to south over the area. Mid-week will be a fight between upper high-pressure and weak disturbances moving through. Thus could be dry or scattered showers from one day to the next. Either way, temps will be well above normal with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
