3/25 – Rob Knight’s “Cold Front” Monday Forecast

Latest surface analysis showed an area of low-pressure over western Kentucky with a cold front trailing southwest to northwest Louisiana to central Texas this morning.

Surface low over Illinois will continue to track east and southeast today dragging the cold front east through the forecast. The moisture pooling along the main axis will move east as well. The cold front and surface heating will provide a focus for isolated thunderstorms late this afternoon. A few strong storms with small hail can be expected across the region but I expect stronger storms north of south Mississippi.

Rain threat will push south this evening with drying out after midnight behind the cold front. Slight cold air advection will knock down temps back to near normal Tuesday through Thursday and slight warming trend Friday and Saturday. Another system will approach the Lower Mississippi Valley bringing a chance of rain Friday night and Saturday.
