3/20 – Rob Knight’s “Final Morning of Winter” Forecast

A cold start with lower humidity and clear skies will bring a beautiful afternoon as we introduce Spring. A cold front to our NW will work SSE through the Plains and across the Lower MS Valley Wednesday night. This will bring a wind shift through the area but this will be dry system for our area. In fact the only real impact will be winds shifting out of the northwest for a short time frame but the wind field completely breaks down as high pressure at the surface works over the area Friday. This should continue to allow for cool morning lows heading into the weekend but by late Saturday we will finally see return flow and dew-points will slowly start to rise. Temps will also begin to inch up and highs will be back in the 70s this weekend.

As for rain it looks like the next best chance will be early next week, possibly as early as Monday night but maybe more so Tuesday. Models are advertising the next disturbance moving across the Lower MS Valley Tuesday. There may be some timing issues but this may bring a shot of strong storms and a few could be severe. It is late March so cannot rule out the possibility of severe weather with these systems.
