2/8 – Rob Knight’s “Midday News” Forecast

In the wake of yesterday’s cold front, it’s a COOL DAY along the Gulf Coast as high pressure will continue to advect colder air into the region throughout tonight. This will keep temps from warming up much more than about 60 for many locations this afternoon.

After a bit of sunshine this afternoon, cloud cover will move in from the Gulf and cover the region overnight into Friday morning. This will lead to a fairly short period of time for cooling with lows reached by about that time and holding steady to slightly increasing by daybreak on Friday.

Friday through this weekend is still looking to be an active one. An upper level disturbance will be anchored along the NW’tern GOM. This will set the stage for several bouts of rain beginning Friday afternoon and carrying over through Monday morning. Models indicating 1-2+ inches of rainfall with more than likely the NWS coming out with a FLASH FLOOD WATCH before Saturday morning.
