2/13 – Jeff Vorick’s “Cool” Mardi Gras Evening Forecast
Expect temperatures to drop fairly quickly this evening as winds relax and skies remain mainly clear. It will be chilly if you have any remaining Mardi Gras plans. Temperatures overnight will be slightly below seasonal averages with 30s inland and lower-40s along the immediate coast. There should not be a significant wind chill factor tomorrow morning.
Ash Wednesday/Valentine’s Day will feature upper-level clouds streaming in and a fairly seasonal day. Cool conditions will give way to a fairly mild one around the middle of the day into the afternoon. High pressure will shape the forecast for some parts of the middle to end of the week. Moisture and some warmth will recover as southerly winds return for the second half of the week.
As we get towards Friday, the storm track will get more active for our region. A storm system developing in the Gulf will provide for rain chances Friday through Saturday. At some point late Friday through early Saturday, widespread rain will be in the area. The question remains on when exactly the rain will come to an end Saturday.
