2/13 – Jeff Vorick’s “Cold Start” Monday Morning Forecast

It’s a cold one to start off this Monday. However, abundant sunshine will eventually prevail later with temperatures climbing to seasonal values. The colder airmass that we have had to start this week will moderate over the short term.

Clouds and moisture will be on the increase into Tuesday. It will not be as cold tonight and tomorrow will be a few degrees warmer overall. A system to our north will aid in keeping moisture pinned in the South. There won’t be any rain chances Tuesday from the system.

Moisture will continue to recover into mid-week. Another system coming out of the Southwest will make its way east, then to its northeast. The overall buoyancy of the atmosphere Wednesday will aid in a 30% chance of showers. The system will make its greatest impact Thursday.

There is a risk for severity in thunderstorm activity associated with the cold front. That being said, there is not great certainty about certain parameters lining up perfectly over our area. There will be plenty of instability in the atmosphere and the cold front will be a strong one. This will lead to a cold end to the week.
