12/19 – Jeff Vorick’s “Rain Inbound” Monday Afternoon Forecast

Rain is moving into South Mississippi this afternoon. An area of low pressure to our west is increasing moisture across the Gulf South. Light to steady rainfall will overspread the area later this afternoon into the evening. Efficient rainmakers will provide for heavy rainfall at times overnight. Rain will be in the picture until Tuesday evening once the system moves to its east. One to two inches of rain can be expected.

Our attention will turn to our northwest mid-week. A very strong cold front will make its way south. Wednesday will have a 20% chance of rainfall and overcast skies. Thursday has a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms with the cold front moving in. The air behind the cold front will be the coldest of this season.

Temperatures will be extremely cold! Friday’s high temperatures will barely make it into the 30s. Not only that, winds will be elevated from Friday through Sunday. Wind chills will be in the single-digits. A Wind Chill Warning and Hard Freeze Warning will likely be needed, in addition to other alerts.
