11/9 – Rob Knight’s Veterans Day Weekend Forecast

A cold front west will move rather rapidly will affect the area this afternoon with showers and t-storms. The front will help keep moisture flowing over the cooler air keeping mostly moderate to heavy showers going a good part of the day. This will include a few t-storms along with a cold rain.

Rain moves out for most by dark and for locations along the coast after dark. The next thing to mention will be the northerly winds. The wind and rain will make things feel cooler today after the front passes and some gusts to 25 or even 30 mph is not out of the question especially for those along the south shore.

The next surface low starts to develop over the western gulf Saturday and begins to track toward our area by Sunday affecting the area Sunday night through Monday night. There is a potential that this system could have some fairly heavy prolonged rainfall associated with it starting Sunday night and lasting well into Monday, depending on exactly where the surface low moves across the area.

We should also observe some of the coldest temps so far this season next week. For starters, Saturday does not get out of the 50s. But that’s not bad compared to Tuesday when half the area may not even see 50F. Tuesday night could be the first freeze of the season for at least the northern tier of counties.
