1/27 – Payton’s Sunday Night Forecast

A beautiful day on the the coast will transform into a cold night with lows in the lower 40s. Your Monday will be beautiful with highs into the upper 60s! Things change though tomorrow night into Tuesday morning. Clouds will move in Monday night followed by showers. Then the cold front arrives. The big question with this entire system is the timing of everything. If the moisture stick around long enough and the cold air filters in it’s possible we have a mix of light rain, sleet and snow flurries Tuesday morning. At this time it doesn’t appear any accumulation will occur in South Mississippi. As you head up to Hattiesburg and Jackson snow accumulation appears more likely. Those locations to the north could get 1-2 inches. This would create slick roads Tuesday morning for central and northern Mississippi. The once the moisture clears out Tuesday afternoon the sun will shine, but temperatures will still be in the upper 30s to lower 40s with windchills in the 20s. Tuesday night will be extremely cold with the entire area seeing upper 20s along the coast and mid to lower 20s inland. Windchills will approach the upper 10s to lower 20s. Plant to protect your four Ps (Plants, Pets, People & Pipes) Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The rest of the week looks sunny and chilly until the weekend. That’s when temperatures go back up and rain chances return.
