1/24 – Jeff Vorick’s “Flash Flood Warning” Wednesday Evening Forecast
Rounds of heavy rain will very slowly come to an end tonight. Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for Pearl River County & Hancock County until 7:45 PM, and Stone County until 9 PM. Pockets of flooding will be a concern this evening as activity has stalled out generally along Interstate 59. Thunderstorms will weaken and eventually scoot eastward. However, multiple rounds/waves of showers and embedded thunderstorms are expected over the next couple of days.
Fog is also an issue if you’re not receiving rainfall. Sea fog is around a lot of the area and that is expected to stick around through at least early tomorrow. Thursday brings another wave of showers and thunderstorms with the potential for severe thunderstorms packing damaging winds and isolated spin-ups.
Friday has the opportunity to bring a drier day but some guidance is trending towards another complex of thunderstorms moving along the Gulf Coast. The final wave of thunderstorm chances will be late Friday into early Saturday with a cold front moving through South Mississippi. Skies will clear out the second half of Saturday and Sunday through a lot of next week will be rain-free.
