1/19 – Rob’s “Above Seasonal” Tuesday Afternoon Forecast

High pressure at the surface will move east today allowing warmer temps and moisture to move back into the area ahead of another system approaching slowly with impacts starting Thursday.

Southerly surface winds Thursday will help to bring warmer and moist air into the region. Weak upper level divergence will help to enhance some lifting and instability in the environment as well. A weakening disturbance is expected to move through from the Western US. Looking at the models, the rain would be primarily light to moderate with the potential for some gusty winds. A strike or two of lightning is possible, but not likely.

The disturbance is expected to slow down some as it approaches the Eastern US Coastline.Sunday, southerly surface flow will set up again, re-introducing warm air and moist air into the environment, which could increase the rain chances for Sunday.
