1/16 – Jeff Vorick’s “Bitterly COLD” Tuesday Evening Forecast
A Hard Freeze Warning goes into effect at 6 PM and carries through 10 AM tomorrow. Be sure to bring in pets, plants, protect pipes with a slow drip for indoor faucets and leave cabinet doors open, and check on neighbors to be sure they’re able to stay warm. Temperatures will dip into the teens overnight and it will feel like the single digits tomorrow morning. Gulfport’s record low temperature is 17 degrees set in 2018 so we will watch that.
Also, be mindful of slick spots more so around the outside of your residence and on sidewalks or parking surfaces. A slow moderating trend for the middle to end of the week begins tomorrow with afternoon temperatures, while still cold, becoming more tolerable.
A frontal system swings through the region for the end of this week bringing cloudy skies and a chance of light rain Thursday. Following that is another cold blast with temperatures not making it to 50 degrees Friday, and hard freeze conditions likely met this weekend.
