03/01 Ryan’s “Ash Wednesday” Afternoon Forecast
I hope you’ve had a good Ash Wednesday so far because it’s about to get a little more active. A cold front is moving through the area as expected and will begin pushing through South MS in the next few minutes. This storm line is very narrow and won’t last long, but does have a marginal threat of severe weather associated with it. Instability may be high, but dry air aloft should limit convection enough to prevent anything too dangerous from occurring though damaging winds and small hail are the most likely. Once the line passes through, we’ll see rapid clearing on the backside as well as much cooler weather. The next few days and the weekend will have afternoon highs in the mid-to-upper 60s with clear skies and plenty of sun. Evening will be in the chilly 40s for Thursday and Friday night, but warmer conditions move in quickly as we head through Saturday, Sunday, and into the work week.
