Waveland to Finally Build New Police Station

After years of litigation, the City of Waveland was finally given the green light to continue construction on its new police station.

The $4.5 million facility was put on hold two years ago after construction problems arose when the building plans did not meet F.E.M.A. regulations. Mayor David Garcia says the city will start issuing new bids over the next two weeks.

Garcia says, "H.M.G.P. has finally approved the plans, the cure plan to the problems that were out there, and so hopefully within the next two weeks, the bonding companies and the architects and all will have it back under construction real shortly."

Since Hurricane Katrina, the Waveland Police Station has been located in a mobile home on Coleman Avenue.
