Biloxi Ends West Harrison’s Playoff Hopes with 38-22 Win

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV) — The West Harrison Hurricanes entered Friday night with a chance to make school history, but the Biloxi Indians had other plans, defeating the Hurricanes 38-22 and ending their hopes of securing the program’s first-ever playoff appearance.

With a postseason berth on the line, West Harrison battled Biloxi in a competitive first half, with both teams tied at 7 late in the second quarter.

Biloxi broke the tie when Marquez Metcalfe took the snap and raced untouched into the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point gave the Indians a 14-7 lead.

West Harrison responded with a promising drive, highlighted by a first-down run from Austin McInnis. However, the Hurricanes’ offense stalled, forcing a punt.

Taking over at their own 13-yard line, the Indians quickly went back to work.

Quarterback Jalen Ramsey connected with Davie Griffin on an out route, with Griffin picking up additional yardage before stepping out of bounds. A late-hit penalty against West Harrison added another 15 yards to the play, moving Biloxi closer to the end zone.

Ramsey capitalized on the opportunity, buying time in the pocket before delivering a touchdown pass to Griffin in the back of the end zone.

The score extended Biloxi’s lead to 21-7 heading into halftime.

The Indians maintained their advantage in the second half, eventually securing a 38-22 victory.

The loss brought a disappointing end to West Harrison’s pursuit of its first playoff berth in school history, while Biloxi walked away with a crucial late-season win.
