Water and Drainage Improvements
The other major topic on the Biloxi City Council agenda is a proposal to borrow seven million dollars to make several improvements primarily in Woolmarket. The money would go towards upgrading water, sewage, and drainage in the community. The borrowed money would be paid back through existing debt-service payments. Woolmarket residents tell News 25 the need to fix drainage issues is extremely high.
“Recently we had a local business that went completely underwater because of the floods, because of inadequate drainage and I think it’s something that’s very important that needs to be done immediately and the 7 million dollars is just the start of what needs to be done in the area, it won’t do everything that needs to be done but it is a step in the right direction.” – Nathan Barrett Woolmarket Resident
Woolmarket residents added the worse areas for flooding include the Woolmarket and Shriners Boulevard intersection and multiple subdivisions.
