Voters head to the polls Tuesday to vote on Hancock County School District Bond Issue

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Voters in Hancock County are heading to the polls Tuesday to decide the fate of a $49 million bond issue for the Hancock County School District.

District leaders say aging facilities across the county need major upgrades, including leaking roofs, failing air conditioning, and outdated classrooms.

Officials say every campus would see improvements if the bond is approved.

At Hancock High School, plans include a new band hall, improved traffic flow for student safety, and expanded parking, along with updated learning and fine arts spaces.

Construction could begin as early as this summer if voters approve the measure on May 19.
