Man accused of making death threats to witnesses in Nolan Wells case to stay in jail pending Gulfport Hearing

A man charged with making threats in the case of Nolan Wells will remain in federal custody until a court hearing next month here in South Mississippi.

Edward Porter of Illinois was arrested for allegedly making death threats to witnesses in the case, to kill them, anyone in their homes and any cops.

Porter is also accused by federal prosecutors of threatening to cut up one witness and stuff the remains into a suitcase.

When Porter was arrested 11 days ago, Berwyn police accompanied federal agents with the Chicago FBI Field Office apprehension team. According to Berwyn police records that the Chicago NBC affiliate obtained under a Freedom of Information filing, Porter did not put up a fight.

He will remain in federal custody until that court hearing in Gulfport, Mississippi, set for Sept. 2.
