VA Holds Job Resource Fair

Dozens of veterans packed the Biloxi VA’s recreation center with the hopes of finding a job.
The compensated work therapy team held a job and resource fair this morning at the Biloxi VA. The team’s main goal is to help veterans learn skills that could help them find employment in the community.
This morning, they took that one step further by bringing the employers to them. Twenty-five Coast businesses were brought in for the fair. Event organizers tell News 25 it gives these businesses a chance to specifically target veterans for their job openings. Vocational rehabilitation counselor Anthony Williams said, “Part of reintegration into the community. A lot of time, these veterans come back, they have the skills and so what we try to do is partner them with community partners and it’s been working so far. We have a lot of community partners that are calling us to come out and participate and we’re thankful for that partnership in the community.”
The fair also held mock interviews to give veterans experience being interviewed by a potential employer.
