USM Welcome Week

“Welcome Week” kicked off today and University of Southern Mississippi students get a fresh start on learning what their college has to offer.
Week long events will run on the Gulf Coast campus in Long Beach until Friday. The sessions are designed towards making sure students are on the best track for success. The daily events will feature tours, workshops, open houses and more.
The week is especially geared towards freshmen and transfer students who will have the opportunity to learn where things are on campus and how to get involved. Jona Burton, USM Student Life and Career Services coordinator, said, “All kinds of events, lunch and learns, opportunities for students to engage and to learn about the many different resources that they have available to them for their student success. We know that when students are involved, when they have a sense of belonging, that they are much more likely to be successful in their academic endeavors here.”
Tomorrow there will be a plaza party with free food, live music and prizes at the administration building at noon.
