Upcoming events at the Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport

The Mississippi Aquarium in Gulfport has an exciting line up of events this month!

First, the Mermaids and Pirates event is returning to the aquarium for the next two weekends.

Starting Thursday, mermaids will be diving into the Aquatic Wonders exhibit where you can see them through the big windows. The mermaids are also available for a meet-and-greet.

During this event, Penguins and Pops will also be happening this Saturday outside on the path towards the aquarium.

You can get a photo with a penguin and get a Pops Brother pop. All the money will go to penguin conservation in honor of October being African Penguin Awareness Month. Mississippi Aquarium PR and Communications Manager Jeff Clark said, “We have an entire colony of African penguins at the Mississippi Aquarium, which we are hoping to have permanently housed on campus sometime in 2023. African penguins are highly endangered. They won’t be around much longer. So, this is a very important part of our penguin conservation message and it’s a really fun event. You get to come out, get a great photo with one of our amazing penguins, and get a delicious Pop Brother’s pop.”

It is $12 to participate in Penguins and Pops and tickets for Mermaid and Pirates are available online at msaquarium.org.
