Two in custody after standoff in Harrison County

Two people are arrested after a standoff with Harrison County deputies shortly after noon today.
Sheriff Troy Peterson says deputies were serving an ex parte order for a custody hearing to a home on Firetower Road when 32-year-old Terry Ladner put a gun to his head and told deputies they weren’t taking his kids. Two shots were fired by the suspect, but no one was injured.
After 30 minutes, deputies were able to talk Ladner out of the house, arrest him, and secure the kids, who were all under the age of eight. Ladner’s wife, Tara Waltman, was also taken into custody. Both Waltman and Ladner are charged with three felony counts of kidnapping.
Sheriff Peterson says this isn’t the first time deputies have shown up to this home. “Some of us are very familiar with Terry and his wife and his mother. We have been out here numerous times, trying to serve the ex parte order. This is, I think, the third time they’ve tried to serve it with nobody being home. This time he just so happened to be home. This is something we deal with daily on domestic issues and child custody issues. It’s not uncommon for us to do this, but for everyone to go home safe, yes, it’s a good day after that.”
Ladner and Waltman are being held at the Harrison County Jail under $75,000 bonds.
