Tropical Storm Gordon preparations
Sandbag locations are open across the Coast in preparation for Tropical Storm Gordon.
News 25’s Gabby Easterwood is at Courthouse Pier where locals are taking precautions.
Sandbags are just one way you can prepare for the possible flooding and heavy rainfall. The Coast is under a hurricane warning and a storm surge warning.
Gulfport Harbor has a mandatory evacuation underway. There are some shelters across the Coast that will be open. The emergency operations center will be opening a shelter in Vancleave on Ball Park Road at noon on Tuesday.
News 25 spoke with Harrison County Emergency Management Director Rupert Lacy who has a few tips on what you need to do before Gordon makes it way to the Coast. “Be ready for the winds, but be ready for the water. Always run from the water, hunker down from the winds. Have your supplies. Do what you need to do today going into tomorrow. Pick up those loose items, have your medications, have food supply. If you haven’t filled up your car maybe go fill up your car.”
Lacy says get ready because the winds and rough weather are coming in over the next several days.
