Three men and a juvenile are in custody today in Picyaune after a traffic stop led to finding a stolen vehicle, a cache of drugs and weapons.
On Wednesday, Picayune officers with the Neighborhood Enhancement Team saw a black Mercedes that was known to belong to Kade Walker, traveling on West Canal Street. Officers knew Walker had no driver’s license or insurance, and was seen speeding. The officers stopped the vehicle.
That’s when a passenger, later identified as Timothy Daniels, fled. Officers pursued him and finally caught him behind the post office on Highway 11.
While in pursuit, Daniels was seen throwing what looked like a weapon and a black backpack near the railroad tracks. After taking Daniels into custody, officers retraced their steps, they found the items. The serial number on the weapon showed it as stolen. The backpack contained another firearm and Daniels’ state ID.
Officers who stayed with the vehicle stopped for a traffic violation identified the driver as Walker and the rear passengers to be Jaquantay McGowan and a juvenile. They searched the vehicle and found 4 glass jars containing marijuana. The officers also learned that Daniels was wanted in an auto theft.
The juvenile was taken to the police department, where he was interviewed with his mother present. During the interview, permission was granted to search the residence, where narcotics detectives found another glass jar containing marijuana, a digital scale, plastic baggies and what is believed to be THC gummies.  The juvenile was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.
Walker, 19, was charged with no driver’s license, no insurance, speeding and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm.
McGowan, 23, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Daniels, 20, was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute while in possession of a firearm, two counts of tampering with physical evidence, possession of a stolen firearm, resisting arrest by fleeing and grand larceny (auto).
