The Lynn Meadows Discovery Center
The Lynn Meadows Discovery Center celebrates a milestone of educational tradition. The building, originally built as an elementary school, is now 100 years old. It made the transition to Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in 1998. Hurricane Katrina damaged the entire first floor of the building in 2005. Since then, the center is continually renovating and expanding. "We have a birthday party room which we did not have before. So we have an explosion of birthday parties. We do facility rentals, where you can come and have weddings. We also have an outdoor area that we’re about to start the expansion which goes almost to Highway 90," said Executive Director Cindy DeFrances. The center celebrated with a full day of free activities for children to enjoy such as a bounce house, arts and crafts and cupcakes.
