The heat and humidity continue ahead of a more unsettled pattern
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at the week ahead
Warm and humid conditions will continue across South Mississippi through the middle of the week, with mostly cloudy skies tonight and lows settling into the mid 70s. Wednesday starts off mostly cloudy, but gradual clearing is expected through the afternoon with highs climbing into the mid 80s. While much of the day stays dry, moisture will continue increasing ahead of a wetter pattern expected later this week.
A few isolated showers could develop late Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with rain chances increasing by Thursday afternoon. Temperatures will remain warm, topping out near 84 degrees along the coast with a breezy southeast wind.
More widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected Thursday night into Friday as deeper Gulf moisture moves into the area. Friday currently looks to be the wettest day of the forecast, with periods of heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms possible through the day.
The unsettled pattern continues through the Memorial Day weekend. Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday through Memorial Day, although there will still be breaks of dry time between rounds of rain. Afternoon highs will stay in the low to mid 80s each day with muggy overnight temperatures in the mid to upper 70s.
If you have outdoor plans for the holiday weekend, keep an eye on the forecast and be prepared for occasional rain and thunderstorms.
