Work at Garfield Ladner Pier in Waveland ramps up

WAVELAND, Miss. (WXXV)- Waveland city leaders recently posted pictures of reconstruction work in progress at the Garfield Ladner Pier.

All that exists of the pier currently are the concrete pilings and walkway. A barge with a crane has since arrived as more intensive work begins.

That construction contract to begin work on the pier went into effect in early February and work is expected to be complete this fall.

The pier has been shut down since it was heavily damaged during Hurricane Zeta in 2020.
