Telehealth appointments rise during COVID surge

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise, so do telehealth appointments for Memorial.

Telehealth is a service provided by Memorial that allows patients to talk to providers over the phone at any time about symptoms rather than in-person.

With COVID-19 numbers increasing, telehealth providers are now seeing a slight increase in online appointments.

Memorial is currently seeing around 15-20 patients through telehealth daily. However, with cases continuing to rise, providers say they expect to see a larger number soon. Memorial Physician Clinic Family Nurse Practitioner Christine Wells-Wonsley said, “This was set up to make sure that patients know there are other ways we can manage your care, and we want to make sure that you can utilize that and you don’t have to go out and be worried about getting sicker or even catching something that you don’t even have right now.”

To make an appointment through telehealth call 228-867-5000.
