Staying connected through doorstep drinks
Bringing the community together during the coronavirus outbreak one bottle at a time: that’s the goal of a new local Facebook group called “It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere.”
The group was started by a local woman named Jessica Knapp, who wanted to find a way to bring people together while still being separated during this time.
Jessica will post a Coast city on the group’s page and members will comment their address and the type of alcohol they enjoy underneath the post.
After the members post their address and drink of choice they end up with a bottle of alcohol on their doorstops and they are expected to return the favor to another group member.
Most of the times these alcohol drop offs are done anonymously and left with a little note or even some flowers. “It’s something to break up the monotonous lifestyle right now so everyone is loving it. It’s fun. You don’t expect to open your door to leave and go do errands and all of the sudden there is a bottle of wine or a case of White Claw. Who doesn’t love free alcohol for one and who doesn’t love a smile? It’s always exciting and everyone is loving it.”
You must be at least 21 years old to join this group. You can find it by searching “It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere” on Facebook.
