St. Martin Softball: Celeste Study signs with East Mississippi CC
One local high school softball standout is taking her talents to the next level.
This afternoon, St. Martin’s Celeste Study signed a national letter of intent with East Mississippi Community College ahead of her final season with the Yellowjackets.
The senior pitcher tells News 25 that Head Coach Emily Romero reached out to the EMCC Lions on her behalf to schedule a tryout and that the Scooba campus felt like home and now the rest is history.
Study jokes that her relationship with softball is love-hate, but says she’s always wanted to play softball at the next level for as long as she can remember. “I don’t like running very often and softball is a lot of running and especially our conditioning, we run a lot of foul poles, we run a lot of suicides, sprints kind of things so the hate part comes with the conditioning. And the love part is when you actually get to step out on the field and see all of your hard work pay off and kind of just play with the people you love and your family.”
Dating back to her freshman year, Study has thrown more than 160 varsity innings posting a career record of 16-10 to go along with 2.19 ERA and 118 strikeouts.
Study is also a volleyball standout.
