Spring Break Weekend on the Coast
Thousands of people line the shores of Biloxi and Gulfport for the start of this year’s Mississippi Spring Break Celebration.
The weekend attracts young adults from Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and even California. A variety of food vendors set up shop across the grounds of the Coast Coliseum which will serve as headquarters for the weekend.
Many people spent day one of the three-day celebration by taking advantage of today’s great weather. Texas resident Jaeren Harden said, “We’re going to go have some great food over here at this seafood restaurant down the street and then also they’re going to have a 7 p.m. beach party and we’re going to enjoy that. We’re going to have some good times out here on the beach.”
Texas resident Keosha Barnes said, “Parties, different beach activities, different restaurants we’re going to go to. We’re just going to show them how Texas girls do it.”
With more than 30,000 spring breakers headed to the Coast, it’s going to be all hands on deck when it comes to mitigating traffic on Highway 90. Biloxi Police Chief John Miller tells News 25 with more events planned than previous years, he’s expecting Highway 90 and Pass Road to be busier than ever before.
