Sports betting was a hit during the Super Bowl
Super Bowl 53 was the first major sporting event for sportsbooks in a handful of states that opened after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a ban on sports betting back in May.
Despite the New Orleans Saints not playing in the big game, Scarlet Pearl Sportsbook Director Nico Sfanos tells News 25 they still had a number of people come out to place their bets. “You know what, it was fantastic, and the room was full. People were enjoying themselves. Everybody had a little wager. We had some great food specials and drink specials here and this room was packed. Everybody, regardless of the Saints not being involved, they were having a great time.”
Sfanos says now that football is over they are gearing up for the next big sports event: March Madness.
