South Mississippians find ways to beat the heat
Feels-like temperatures in South Mississippi on Monday were well over 100 degrees, with many more days of extreme heat on the way.
This can be concerning for families, especially those with younger children, but this has not stopped Gulf Coast residents from trying to enjoy the outdoors while staying cool.
Long Beach father Jim McCann explained how he and his family still have fun during the hot summer months.
“I always try to make sure that my kids are hydrated, I’m hydrated and then if I’m getting too hot we just jump inside, get in some air conditioning or just drink a bunch of water, jump in a pool,” McCann said. “You just want to stay cool.”
Medical professionals also suggest going outside during the early hours of the day or in the evening to avoid extreme temperatures and overexposure to the sun.
